Hi, I’m Tom Nasca.
I’ve always had a passion for making things, problem solving and materials. While pursuing my BFA in Photography from
SUNY New Paltz, I learned of the perfect outlet for my love: Industrial Design. Now, I am finishing up my MFA at
RIT and looking for full-time work.
As you may well know by now, my name is Tom Nasca. I grew up in the Hudson Valley in New York, and have been taking things apart to figure out how they work since before I can remember. By the time I was 16 I started building acoustic guitars with the teaching of my father, who has made guitars, mandolins and ukeleles since before I was born. Around the same time I became fascinated with the art of photography, and the optical and chemical sciences associated with it.
When the season for college neared, I chose to pursue photography, making objects in the background as a hobby, and continuing my studies in woodworking through courses at SUNY New Paltz. Before I graduated, I discovered the field of industrial design - the perfect outlet for my need to create in a physical space.
But it's so much more than an outlet for physicality! It's a study of people, interaction, collaboration, technology, and our impact on the planet. It's also a study of becoming an expert on whatever you're designing. We have huge social and environmental responsibilities while being creative and brilliant, and everything about it excites me.
